Warriors Battle Hard but Bold Secure Last Minute Lead

Today, the Warriors took to the ice against the Toronto Metropolitan Bold, determined to extend their winning streak with high-energy play. Despite a fierce, back-and-forth battle, the Warriors ultimately fell 5-4 after three hard fought periods.

The action began immediately, with Sam McKinney (Fredericton) setting up Tate Popple (Brandon) for a goal in the very first minute. The Bold responded as the period progressed, keeping the game tightly contested with plenty of shots from both sides. By the end of the first, the Warriors held a slight edge in shots on net, 14-12, while the score remained tied at 1-1.

In the second period, the Warriors took advantage of a power play, showing their strength in special teams. Nate Bierd (Calgary) and McKinney connected in a smooth passing sequence to feed Popple, who buried his second goal of the game. This chemistry between McKinney and Popple has been unstoppable all season, consistently driving the Warriors' offense. With this goal, Popple now ranks third in league points with 14 in nine games, while McKinney holds second place for assists with an impressive 11 over the same span. The Bold managed to equalize again, but in the final minute, Jaden Goldie (Owen Sound) set up Adamo Santia (Richmond Hill) to regain a 3-2 lead for the Warriors. Despite being out shot 19-8, goalie Dan Murphy (Waterford) stood firm as a crucial anchor, keeping the team ahead.

In the final period, both teams intensified their defense, battling hard for possession. The Bold broke through twice to edge ahead 4-3, but the Warriors fought back fiercely, with Goldie and Jaxson Murray (Waterloo) setting up Bierd on a power play to tie it at 4-4. Just as it seemed the game might go into overtime, the Bold scored with only 23 seconds left on the clock, clinching a 5-4 victory in a close finish.

Up next, the Warriors hit the road to face the Windsor Lancers on Friday, November 8th, in what promises to be another exciting match up.
