Box Score This past week, the Waterloo Warriors faced the Western Mustangs twice, continuing their strong season and extending their winning record with two solid victories.
Game 1: Thursday, October 10, at Warrior Field in Waterloo, ON
The Warriors came out of the gate with intensity, applying immense pressure on the Mustangs and scoring two goals in the first 15 minutes. Juli Merry (Waterloo)Â opened the scoring, followed shortly after by a goal from Sarah Schnarr (Kitchener). Waterloo's offensive control was dominant, as they prevented the Mustangs from registering a single shot on goal throughout the first two periods.
In the third quarter, Jennifer Munford (Vancouver) added to the Warriors lead, making it 3-0. A scoreless fourth quarter sealed the deal, securing a decisive win for Waterloo.
Game 2: Friday, October 11, at Mustangs Field in London, ON
Waterloo once again started strong, putting the Mustangs on the back foot with early pressure. Sierra Blackburn (Kitchener) scored the opening goal, followed by a team goal to close out the first period with a 2-0 lead.
The Mustangs found some offensive rhythm in the second period, scoring to narrow the gap to 2-1. However, Tiffany Binkle (Kitchener) restored the Warriors two goal cushion in the third period, making it 3-1. Western continued to battle, scoring in the final moments to bring the game to 3-2. Despite the late surge, the Warriors held off the Mustangs final attacks to secure another hard-fought victory.
