Warriors show strong fight in senior night loss to Badgers

The Warriors took on the No. 3 and undefeated Brock Badgers as part of Senior Night on Wednesday at the PAC and put forth a strong battle as all seven graduating members saw significant court time.

The seven graduating seniors who were honoured prior to the game were: Katrine Eistrat (Toronto, ON/), Serena Otshudi (Hamilton, ON/), Mackenzie Vallee (Waterdown, ON/), Holly Jarvis (Burgessville, ON/), Jenna Gravina (Burlington, ON/), Nicola Lopes (Kelowna, BC/), and Karen Fan (Oakville, ON/) all of whom have been instrumental in the programs success over the last 4-5 years including consecutive playoff berths and an OUA bronze medal.

Vallee and Lopes came out firing in the opening set to help lead the Warriors to a 25-22 opening set victory. Vallee finished the match with a team high 13 kills while adding seven digs while Lopes had three kills and seven digs. Up the middle Otshudi was also very strong with nine kills and a game high five blocks while Fan and Jarvis were effective on the outside attack with eight and five kills repsectively. Athlete of the Week Katrine Eistrat (Toronto, ON/) was again accurate in her setup with 35 assists while captain and dig machine Jenna Gravina (Burlington, ON/) had five digs in the match.

Despite winning the first set, Brock managed to win the next three 16-25, 22-25, 20-25 to hand Waterloo their first loss of 2022.

The Warriors are now 6-4 on the season, good for third in the OUA West based on a 0.600 winning percentage. They will face the Badgers again in their final regular season game on Sunday, March 6 at 2pm in St. Catharines.
