Update Re: March Break timing

Dates for all Waterloo Region Esports Camps have been changed to reflect the Ontario Minister of Education's postponement of March break.
"In support of our collective efforts to keep schools safe, we are postponing March break until April 12-16, 2021," said Stephen Lecce, Ontario's Minister of Education. This decision was made with the best advice of Ontario's Chief Medical Officer of Health and public health officials, including consultations with many local Medical Officers of Health.

To comply with the Minister of Education's decision, and out of respect to the educational institutions, coaching staff and camp participants, we are moving all camps to the new April break period.  Please contact info@sportscampscanada.com if you have any questions or concerns.
Meet the Instructor

Steven Quach (Toronto/)

Steven will be the lead instructor for the League of Legends Esports Camp from April 13-15. Steven first started playing League of Legends back in 2012 and then got involved with esports at the University of Waterloo in 2016. Since 2017, he has been managing collegiate League of Legends and then expanded out to the esports development in general. Steven is currently working in content creation with DongHuaP and is also a Training Grounds Coach for Cloud9. Steven looks forward to creating personal development opportunities for those taking part in the camp, and seeing how much the campers can improve over that time frame.

The University of Waterloo Warriors will be hosting a virtual League of Legends Esports Camp in collaboration with the Waterloo Region Sport Hosting Office from April 13-15, 2021. Register today!

University of Waterloo esports athletes will be trained by Sports Camps Canada to deliver top level instruction to campers as part of a STEM accredited curriculum developed in partnership with Logitech. Campers will take in tactics and tools to improve their gaming skills, while building important life skills that extend beyond gaming. Not only will campers improve in game, coaches will provide sessions focused on physical exercises and health to maintain overall wellness in and out of the game.

"The Waterloo Warriors have demonstrated an investment in esports, particularly through their League of Legends program which regularly places in the top brackets in North America", said Allister Scorgie, Director of Sport Hosting at Explore Waterloo Region. "When we engaged with Sports Camps Canada to host camps in Waterloo Region, we knew that along with top-level coaching, the Waterloo Warriors would continue to provide the support and resources needed to take this camp to another level. We're thrilled that the Waterloo Warriors are hosting a League of Legends camp, one of the most popular titles in the world of esports, and bring that experience to Waterloo Region."

The 3-day Esports Camp will be held virtually between April 13-15, 2021, and is available for kids ages 12-19, with an invite only class for university students added to the program. In-person esports camps are being considered for later in 2021 and beyond once it is safe to resume on-campus activities.  The development of hosting the esports camp program is a direct result of the recent efforts by the Sport Hosting group and its esports advisors at Subnation Media to develop and execute a sustainable esports strategy for the Waterloo Region.

"We are pleased to have the opportunity to host this camp in partnership with Explore Waterloo Region and Sports Camps Canada." Commented Adam Steeves, Senior Manager of Recreation at the University of Waterloo. "Gamers at the University of Waterloo are extremely engaged and motivated to grow the program on campus and in the community. Launching this new program with such a strong team is a great step in the continued growth of esports within our region."
