For the first time since 2006, the men's volleyball team will not be in the post-season after finishing the season 6-11. The Warriors lost 5 of their final 6 games but 3 of those came in heart-breaking five set losses. This young Warriors squad will be back with even more talent next season and will no doubt compete to be back in the post-season once again.
On Friday night in London Waterloo competed with the second best team in the OUA west, Western going the distance but came up short losing the fifth set 20-18. It was an incredible battle that went back and forth all night.
Leading the way was rookie outside
Nolan Spencer (Kitchener/) who had 13 kills and three blocks while
Kevin LeBreux (Cumberland/) put down 12 in the match.
Deman Dulat (Mississauga/) and
Matthew Mawdsley (London/) rounded out Waterloo's attack with nine and eight kills respectively while
Colm Guyn (Lethbridge/) finished with 41 assists. Waterloo finished with an impresive 25 blocks as
Jacob Nesbitt (Wakefield/) led the way with six while Dulat and LeBreux each had five.
On Saturday night, Waterloo dropped their final match of the season 3-1 to Windsor, running out of gas down the stretch.
Andrew Smondulak (Mississauga/) had a match, posting a game high 16 kills and four blocks for 18.5 points. Nesbitt was next with 11 kills while rookie
Hayden Cavender (Stratford/) put away 11.Â
In their final game with the Warriors, setter
Aman Rakkar (Cambridge/) was solid with 37 assists and 10 digs while
Waylon Chen (Markham/) picked up a service ace.
