Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

No. 8 Warriors take care of business in wins over Windsor and Western

The No. 8 nationally ranked women's volleyball team earned back-to-back victories over Windsor and Western to improve to 2-1 on the season. On Friday night, Waterloo earned the sweep over the Lancers while on Saturday, the black and gold came back from a 2-1 deficit to defeat the Mustangs in five.

In their straight set win over Windsor, Waterloo showed they will be a strong contender once again with the comfortable 25-21, 25-15, 25-21 victory.

Sarah Glynn (Fredericton/) led the way with 11 kills, three service aces and two blocks for a game high 15 points while another pair of second years, Mackenzie Vallee (Waterdown/) and Karen Fan (Oakville/) each put away seven kills in the win. Fan was also the defensive leader with 10 digs. Serena Otshudi (Stoney Creek/) was a tower at the net with a game high six blocks while Claire Gagne (Cambridge/) collected 32 assists. Overall the Warriors owned the net play with 22 total blocks compared to just four for the Lancers.

Saturday's match was a much stiffer test against a strong Mustangs group but the Warriors found their stride at the right time, mounting a comeback from 2-1 down, winning the fourth set 25-18 and fifth 15-9.
