Game Recap: Women's Hockey |

Warriors blank No. 3 Varsity Blues in Think Pink game

It was Think Pink day at the CIF as women's hockey went to battle against the No. 3 ranked Toronto Varsity Blues. Waterloo played a full 60, coming away with a convincing 5-0 win to improve to 8-3-1 on the season. The Warriors are now 3-1 against U SPORTS Top 10 teams, outscoring them 15-6.

Taytum Clairmont (Waterloo/) opened the scoring, notching her league leading eighth goal and 17th point of the season. Krystin Lawrence (Tecumseh/) and Emma Pye (Oshawa/) earned the helpers on the powerplay goal.

Lawrence made it 2-0 before the first would expire, taking the nice bank pass off the boards from Brooklyn Cole (Kitchener/) and making no mistake on the breakaway, lifting the backhand into the top shelf.

Alison Hanson (North York/) made it 3-0 for the Warriors' second powerplay marker of the game before Cole made it 4-0 on a beautiful individual effort.
Clairmont added the empty netter to secure a huge three points for the black and gold. Clairmont extended her league lead in points to 18 while Lawrence is second in the OUA with her 14 points.

In net, Mikayla Schnarr (Waterloo/) was outstanding making 26 stops while earning her first career shutout.

Waterloo's 23 points is just one behind Toronto and Nipissing for top spot in the OUA. The Warriors will take on Ryerson Thursday at home before closing out the term on Saturday in a rematch with the Blues.
