Game Recap: Women's Hockey |

No. 9 Warriors blank Rams, leap into first place

Two of the hottest OUA women's hockey teams met on Thursday night at the CIF, and it was the newest member of the U SPORTS Top 10, the No. 9 Warriors who emerged victorious, blanking the Ryerson Rams 3-0 for their second straight shutout win. Mikayla Schnarr (Waterloo/) made 29 stops for her second straight shutout as the black and gold improved to 9-3-1 on the season and jump into first overall in the OUA with their 26 points.

Ryerson came into the game riding a six game win streak, including an impressive 3-2 win over nationally ranked Nipissing but the Warriors stopped the Rams in their tracks.

Taytum Clairmont (Waterloo/) scored one of the nicest goals you will ever witness, going between the legs and putting into the top corner for her league leading 10th goal of the season. Clairmont's goal came at 743 of the second period as Waterloo took a 1-0 lead into the third.

In the final frame, it was the Elizabeth Lenardon (Kelowna/) show as the rookie potted not one but two goals, her first two as a Warrior to lift Waterloo to the 3-0 victory. On her second marker, Krystin Lawrence (Tecumseh/) was awarded an assist, her 100th career OUA point. Cynthia Cavanagh (Scarborough/) had a two point night, earning assists on both of Lenardon's goals while Jenna Hewitt-Kenda (North Vancouver/) had one helper in the win.
The Warriors will now close out 2019 with a road game in Toronto on Saturday. Puck drops at 3pm.
