There's a new leader in OUA scoring race as
Taytum Clairmont (Waterloo/) registered three points on Friday night to lead her Warriors to a 4-1 victory over the No. 6 ranked York Lions.
Clairmont's 13 points (8G, 5A) is now the most in the OUA while teammate
Krystin Lawrence (Tecumseh/) sits in third with 10 points and is in the lead in goals scored at six.
After a scoreless first period,
Selena Dirven (Watford/) netted her first of the season to open the scoring with
Brooklyn Cole (Kitchener/) getting the helper. Clairmont made it a 2-0 game with a beautiful shorthanded marker. Clairmont was sprung free by a perfect feed from
Jessie Fennell (Fonthill/).
York cut into Waterloo's lead early in the third before Lawrence restored Waterloo's two goal lead at 12:18 of the third. Clairmont then iced the game with an empty netter for her second of the game and third point to secure the 4-1 win for the black and gold.
The Warriors are now 6-2-1- on the season, good for fourth spot in the OUA standings and will be back on home ice for the first time since October 26 tomorrow as they battle the Western Mustangs at 2:30pm.
