It was looking bleak for the men's volleyball team as they headed into the third set down 2-0 to the visiting Windsor Lancers on Saturday at the PAC. That is until the black and gold went into scrap mode and started to win the net battle and their passing became more polished.
From there, the Warriors went on to win the next three sets, 25-20, 25-21, 15-13 for a big first win of the season.
It was a total team effort after the Warriors lost a big part of their squad,
Jacob Nesbitt (Wakefield/) who went down very early with an ankle injury.
Three different Warriors hit double digits with
Deman Dulat (Mississauga/) leading the way with 11 kills while
Andrew Smondulak (Mississauga/) and
Nolan Spencer (Kitchener/) each had 10, including several big ones late in the fourth and throughout the fifth.
Matthew Mawdsley (London/) was big as well with six kills and two blocks while rookie left side
Noel Campfens (Toronto/) had a big finish to the fourth set with all three of his kills coming late to help the Warriors march to victory.
Colm Guyn (Lethbridge/) was outstanding with 40 assists and seven digs.
The Warriors will look to make it two straight when Western pays a visit to the PAC at 2pm tomorrow. Catch the game live on OUA.tv.
