Game Recap: Women's Hockey |

Warriors erupt in third for 4-1 win over Badgers

The Warriors scored three goals in a span of 6:36 late in the final frame to get past the Brock Badgers 4-1 on Bell Let's Talk Day at the CIF Arena.

Four different goal scorers found the back of the net while Taytum Clairmont (Waterloo/) had three helpers in the victory. Clairmont has been a Badger hunter this season with five assists in two victories over the Badgers.

In net, Amanda Smith (Burlington/) was outstanding stopping 30 of 31 shots for her seventh win of the season.

Dollee Meigs (Owen Sound/) opened the scoring late in the opening period after banging home a loose puck off the end boards on the power play. It was Meigs' team leading seventh goal of the season.  Waterloo held on to their 1-0 lead until late in the middle frame when Cassidy Maplethorpe tapped in the biscuit following a goal mouth scramble.

The game would remain tied into the third period until Samantha Burbridge (Brantford/) made it a 2-1 game, whacking home a rebound on the power play at 11:02.

Brooklyn Sarnovsky (Courtice/) provided some insurance with a shot from the point five minutes later before Selena Dirven (Watford/) potted an empty netter to make it a 4-1 final.

Waterloo improved to 10-5-2 and sit in sixth in the OUA with 31 points. Brock fell to 10-4-2 but with their four overtime wins have 28 points and occupy the eighth and final playoff spot.

Waterloo will be back in action this Friday at Ryerson, their first of a three game road trip.
