Game Recap: Men's Volleyball |

Men's volleyball split home games with RMC and Queen's

Men's volleyball earned a weekend split as they improved to 3-6, beating RMC in straight sets on Friday and then falling to Queen's by the same score on Saturday. 

On Friday, Waterloo got past the Paladins 3-0 (24, 16, 22) as Kevin LeBreux (Cumberland/) led the way with 12 kills and and two blocks while Hayden Cavender (Stratford/) had six kills and added four blocks for his best game in his young Warrior career. Three other Warriors had four kills each while Colm Guyn (Lethbridge/) collected 30 assists and had nine digs in the win. 

On Saturday, Waterloo was up against the top seeded team from the East, the Queen's Gaels. The young black and gold squad gave the Gaels a good fight in the opening two sets as the visitors squeaked them out 25-22, 25-23 but kept the pedal down in the third, winning the set 25-18 and match 3-0.

Rookie outside hitter Bennett Newell (Brussels/) had a very sound game with a team high 9.5 points on seven kills and five assisted blocks. Another rookie outside hitter, Nolan Spencer (Kitchener/) was also on his game with five kills. Queen's outhit the Warriors 43 kills to 22 in the match.

Waterloo will continue their five game home stand next weekend with a pair of matinee games against York (Saturday) and Nipissing (Sunday). Both are scheduled for 2pm starts.
