The Marauders have put up at least 90 points in their last two games and continued their offensive dominance on Wednesday notching 108 points on Waterloo in a 108-90 win over the Warriors on Wednesday night in Hamilton.
McMaster outscored the Warriors 33-19 in the opening quarter and held on to their lead for the remaining 30 minutes for the two points. With the win McMaster pulled even with the Warriors in the standings with their 7-14 record (14 points) as the two combatants sit tied for fifth in the OUA standings.
McMaster shot a sizzling 58.8% from the field compared to 44.7% for the visiting Warriors. The Marauders also owned the rebound battle with 52 boards compared to 39 for the black and gold.
It was another strong night for second year forward
Nedim Hodzic (Waterloo/Sir John A. Macdonald Secondary) with 32 points and 12 boards. Hodzic remains the top rebounder in the country with 11.7 boards per game and is second in OUA scoring at 23.1 points per game.
Justin Hardy (Waterloo/Sir John A. Macdonald Secondary) also had a productive night tallying 22 points going 9-for-19 from the field with two from beyond the arc. Defensively, Hardy was also strong with three steals.
Rounding out Waterloo's attack was
Justin Malnerich (Cambridge/St. Benedict's Catholic Secondary School) with 11 and
Simon Petrov (Waterloo/Sir John A. Macdonald Secondary) with 10.
For McMaster, Miles Seward led the way with 26 points including four 3-pointers while another starter, Kareem Collins put up 22.
The Warriors will now focus on a huge contest on Friday night at the PAC. The Guelph Gryphons, who sit four points behind Waterloo in the standings (with one game in hand), make the short trek to Waterloo for an 8pm tip. It's the final regular season home game for the black and gold and it can be seen live on OUA.tv.
