Men's basketball took on the No. 2 Brock Badgers on Saturday at the PAC as part of the 19th annual Fantastic Alumni Day and stuck with them through the first three quarters but ultimately ran out of steam in a 100-78 loss.
The Warriors played incredible ball in the opening 20 minutes led by
Nedim Hodzic (Waterloo/Sir John A. Macdonald Secondary) and
Simon Petrov (Waterloo/Sir John A. Macdonald Secondary) and had a four point lead going into the second half. That lead would however evaporate quickly as Cassidy Ryan and Daniel Elgadi took over the contest. Ryan finished with a game high 34 points while Elgadi had 18.
Brock outscored Waterloo 54-28 in the final two quarters to pick up the 22 point victory. Despite the loss it was a massive improvement from the black and gold who lost by over 40 just a week ago to the same opponent.
Nedim Hodzic (Waterloo/Sir John A. Macdonald Secondary) led his squad in points with 28 while collecting seven rebounds. Petrov was the next best Warrior with 18 while
Justin Hardy (Waterloo/Sir John A. Macdonald Secondary) put up 12. Hardy was also solid defensively with three blocks.
The Warriors will look to halt a 4-game losing streak on Wednesday in Hamilton against the McMaster Marauders. Game time is set for 8pm.
