The Warriors men's volleyball team wrapped up what was a very quiet 2018 with two road losses to McMaster and Brock. Waterloo who has played just five games, fell to 1-4 on the season.
In their 3-0 loss to McMaster,
Kevin LeBreux (Cumberland/),
Nolan Spencer (Kitchener/) and
Jacob Nesbitt (Wakefield/) led the way with four kills each while Nesbitt was big at the net with five blocks.
Colm Guyn (Lethbridge/) finished with 17 assists in the loss.
On Saturday, Waterloo fell to Brock 3-1 and got another big game from Spencer who put down 19 kills on 33 attempts. LeBreux was the next best Warrior with 11 kills while
Deman Dulat (Mississauga/)Â put down nine. Guyn finished with another big number of assists with 39.
Waterloo dropped the opening set 25-19, before coming back to tie it, winning the second 25-21. Brock then took advantage of nine errors from the Warriors to win the third 25-20 and snuck out the fourth 25-23 to win the match 3-1.
Despite being in last place in the OUA west Waterloo has at least four games in hand on anyone above them in the standings and will go to work in 2019 to climb their way back into the playoff race.
The Warriors will stay active this holiday break as they host their bi-yearly Christmas Tournament from December 28-30. Waterloo will battle UBCO, Winnipeg and Montreal.
