The Warriors outscored Nipissing 29-10 in the second quarter and rode that to the finish line to earn their second win of the season, topping the Lakers 86-70 on Think Pink night at the PAC.
Simon Petrov (Waterloo/Sir John A. Macdonald Secondary) and
Nedim Hodzic (Waterloo/Sir John A. Macdonald Secondary) combined for 42 points in the win with Petrov putting up 20 and Hodzic a game high 22. Petrov went 7-for-15 from the field and added five from the free throw line while Hodzic went 5-for-13 and was a perfect at the charity stripe going 12-for-12. Hodzic was also massive on the boards with a game high 13 rebounds.
Justin Malnerich (Cambridge/St. Benedict's Catholic Secondary) and
Colin Connors (St. Johns/Gonzaga High (Brock)) also put up big games with 17 and 12 each. Malnerich hit a game high five 3-pointers while Connors as very efficient going 5-for-7 from the field.
David Ramon Prados (Madrid/Virgen de Atocha (North Platte College)) rounded out Waterloo's attack with six points on two big 3-pointers in the second quarter.
Waterloo shot an impressive 49.1% from the field compared to just 35.2%, also hitting six more than the Lakers from beyond the arc. Despite just putting up 36 points in the second half, Waterloo's defence stepped up to keep the Lakers in check to pick up the 16 point victory.
