Game Recap: Women's Hockey |

Balanced attack propels Warriors to win over Toronto

The Warriors continue to get offence from all four lines as the black and gold picked up their third straight win, defeating the Toronto Varsity Blues 3-1 on Saturday in the big smoke.

Waterloo scored in each of the three periods while Toronto got their marker in the middle frame.

Alison Hanson (North York/) netted her third of the season in the opening period tipping in a Brooklyn Sarnovsky (Courtice/) point shot to give Waterloo a 1-0 lead. Sarnovsky had a strong game for the Warriors playing sound defence and created several offensive chances.

Toronto would tie up the game at 1's midway through the second period before Waterloo regained their lead as Angela MacDonald (Kitchener/) banged in a loose puck in the slot for her second of the season.

Like they've been doing all season, Waterloo held strong in the third, maintaining their 2-1 lead, before Samantha Burbridge (Brantford/) put the nail in the coffin with an empty netter, her second of the season.

In net, Amanda Smith (Burlington/) was steady turning aside 18 of 19 shots faced.

With the win Waterloo improved to 6-2-1 and move into a tie for fifth spot with Guelph. Toronto fell to 4-4-1 and have 13 points on the season.

The Warriors wrap up the calendar year next weekend with a pair of home games, first with Queen's on Saturday and then UOIT on Sunday.
