The Warriors women's volleyball team showed why they've earned a No. 9 national ranking on Saturday, with a 3-1 win over Guelph.
Guelph grabbed the first set 25-20 before the black and gold won the next three (19, 22, 18) to open their 2018-19 campaign with a victory.
Claire Mackenzie (Vancouver/) got her fifth and final season off to a tremendous start with a game high 21 kills in the match. She also had an astounding seven service aces and six digs to finish with 28 points.
Rookie left side
Sarah Glynn (Fredericton/) had a solid debut to her Warrior career with 14 kills and 13 digs. Up the middle
Samantha Warner (Ayr/) finished with seven kills.
Setting up the Warriors was
Claire Gagne (Cambridge/) who had a game high 43 assists.
Noa Pijil had a team high 14 kills for her Gryphons.
The Warriors will board a plane to Thunder Bay next weekend for a double set with Lakehead.
