Warriors swimmers impress at Laurentian Invitational

Day 1 Recap

The Warriors put together an impressive meet at the Laurentian Invitational in competition with Ottawa, Laurentian and Club Neor.  Waterloo came away with an individual team record, three gold, five silver and a bronze medal.  

The highlight of the afternoon was a victory by freshman Eloise Ladyman (Kamloops/) with a school record in the 100m Backstroke in at time of 1.05.31.  The previous record was set in 1987 by Kate Moore in a time of 1.05.47.
 
Fourth year Josie Andres (Thorndale/) continued her success from last year by winning the women's 50m Freestyle in 27.02, a great start to the season.

Danyon Chu (Unionville/) placed second in the 50m Freestyle with a fabulous finish in 24.13 just touching out the third place finisher.
 
Freshman Hoyhun Ryu swimming the 800m Freestyle was second in 8.55.34, in the women's equivalent Freshman Laura Bumbulis (Cambridge/) was third in 9.53.00.
 
The men's 100m Breaststroke was a Warrior battle between Freshman Mark Huang (Richmond Hill/) and Seasoned Veteran Jon Ramkisson which came down to the last touch with the Freshmen Huang just touching out Ramkissoon in 1.05.52 to 1.05.69 with Waterloo claiming gold and silver in the event.
 
In the only relay swim of Day 1, the 200 Medley relay the Warriors A team came second to the Ottawa Gee Gees.

Day 2 Recap

On Day 2, the Warriors started the meet on a winning note with a win over Ottawa and Laurentian in the 200 Mixed Medley Relay the team of Backstroke Eloise Ladyman (Kamloops/), Breaststroke Jon Ramkissoon,Butterfly Josie Andres (Thorndale/) and Freestyle Danyon Chu (Unionville/) out touched Ottawa finishing in 1.52.27 to Ottawa's 1.52.94 a nail biting finish which had everybody on their feet.

Eloise Ladyman (Kamloops/) established her dominance in the Backstroke events winning the 200m Backstroke in 2.22.59 which put her 3rd on the All time Top 10 Waterloo list.

Joceylyn van Leeuwen earned Silver in the 100m Freestyle in 59.86, Jon Ramkissoon also gained the 2nd slot in the 200m Breaststroke in 2.26.52.
