Box Score Taylor Reimer (Morden) turned aside all 22 shots faced while
Angela MacDonald (Kitchener) netted two goals as the Warriors blanked the Brock Badgers 2-0 on Sunday afternoon at the CIF. It was the first shutout for Reimer on home ice and second of her career while MacDonald collected her seventh and eighth goals of the season.
The win improves Waterloo's record to 11-7-1 which has them in a tie for fourth with Queen's, both at 32 points. Brock fell to 9-9-1 with 25 points as they sit in ninth, four points out of a playoff spot.
After a scoreless opening period, MacDonald found the games first goal it the second after a beauty feed by
Marissa Redmond (Ajax). Redmond blew past the Badgers defender and slid the puck across to MacDonald who tapped it into the gaping net.
Brock turned the pressure on in the third as they looked for the equalizer but the visitors could not beat Reimer. MacDonald found the insurance marker at 9:55 of the third as her linemates
Siobhan Hewitt-Kenda (North Vancouver) and
Amy Barnard (Cambridge) worked a perfect 3-on-2 to put Waterloo up by two.
The Warriors would hang on for the final two minutes to pick up their 11th win of the season.
Badgers keeper Jensen Murphy allowed two goals on 29 shots while Reimer was perfect with her 22 stops.
Waterloo will make the trip up north to face Laurentian and Nipissing next weekend before returning to the CIF for a battle with the league's top team, Guelph on February 12.
