Box Score 2 The Warriors women's volleyball team stayed one game above .500 splitting their weekend series with the Lakehead Thunderwolves in Thunder Bay on Friday and Saturday.
Very little separated the two teams throughout the two games as Lakehead took the opener 3-1 (25-22, 21-25, 17-25, 22-25) before Waterloo bounced back on Saturday to win a five set thriller (25-23, 28-26, 22-25, 26-28, 15-8).
The Warriors moved to 6-5 on the season while Lakehead fell to 2-11. Waterloo's 12 points have their sitting third in the OUA west.
On Friday,
Casey Clunas (Harriston) led the way with 11.5 points on eight kills and four blocks while also earning five digs.
Kayla Wierts (Drayton) was also strong in a losing effort with 8 points.
On Saturday, it was outside hitter
Claire Mackenzie (Vancouver) having a big match with 11.5 points while
Emily Ibbotson (Cambridge) also had a stellar match with nine points, which include an incredible six service aces. Clunas was also on her game for the second straight night with 10 points which include five kills and a game high six blocks.
The Warriors will now return to the PAC for five straight home games, kicking things off on Friday against the York Lions at 6pm followed by a match up with Nipissing on Saturday, also at 6pm. Both games can be seen live on OUA.tv.
