Baseball fans across Canada have been wringing their hands and tugging at their collective collars for much of September, as a certain blue-feathered offensive juggernaut has suffered through a power outage at the worst possible time.

Perhaps the Toronto Blue Jays just need to take some batting practice with the Waterloo Warriors.

Third baseman Michael Clouthier (Guelph) smoked four home runs and drove in 11 as the Warriors swept a doubleheader against York by scores of 25-0 and 17-6 on Sunday afternoon at Jack Couch Park in Kitchener.

In the first half of the twin billing, Clouthier went 3-for-5 with a walk, two homers, and 7 RBI in the 25-0, 7-inning decision. Left fielder Kyle Thalheimer (Richmond Hill) added two hits and five runs batted in, while leadoff man Donald Smith (Waterloo ) reached base in all six plate appearances (three hits and three walks), scoring five times. All told, the top three Warriors hitters in the lineup combined for 8 hits, 6 walks, 15 RBI and 12 runs scored.

Stephen Gade (Guelph) was solid on the bump for the Warriors, allowing just four hits and two walks in 7 shutout innings, while striking out 7. Andre Oullette took the loss for York on a day in which the pitching staff struggled to find the strike zone – the Warriors had 15 hits and 14 walks in the whitewashing.

In the second half of the doubleheader, it was more of the same for the Warriors' big bats. Clouthier added two more home runs and 4 RBIs, pacing Waterloo to a 17-6 win. The big weekend earned Clouthier Warriors male athlete of the week honours.

The Warriors are next in action on Tuesday, September 20, as they host the Guelph Gryphons in a pair of makeup games that were rained out last weekend. The first pitch of game one is scheduled for 6pm at Jack Couch Park.
