Lifesaving Club takes home top prize from Ontario Championship

Waterloo Warriors Adrian Cossu (), Meghan McGrath (), Allie Brown and Steven Tang () triumphed at the Lifesaving Society's 216 Ontario Lifeguard Championships in Tillsonburg with a first place team finish July 30-31^st.

Waterloo was represented by two teams to battle it out and compete against 12 other teams from across the province. The competition tests four individual's ability to work as a team and demonstrate their lifeguarding abilities through first aid technical events and lifesaving based speed swimming relays.

The first day went quickly with both teams placing well in preliminary rounds, making it to finals the following day. Physical relays went well and Waterloo again asserted its dominance with Manikin Relay placing first and fourth.

The final day aimed to take place outside but unfortunately due to sever weather was rained out causing one event to be canceled. First Aid and Priority Assessment both served as busy tests for our teams' communication and problem solving skills. At the end of the day the Warriors narrowly missed the club championship by 40 points taking second for the second year in a row. The Warrior team of Ryan foster, Alyssa Mole (), Trish Oei and Nathanael de Boer had a strong 5^th place finish. Great work to everyone who competed on the weekend.
