Box Score It wasn't the start,
Justin Gunter had hoped for in their weekend series with the Algoma Thunderbirds up in Sault Ste. Marie. The Warriors dropped the game 96-68 and it was one tough quarter that cost them the game as the T-Birds outscored Waterloo 36-12 in the third. Erase that third quarter and it was an even game for the visiting Warriors.
As a team the Warriors shot 42.6% from the field while Algoma was better at 47.8%. Algoma also made 23 trips to the free throw line (making 17) while Waterloo was only 7-for-12.Â
The Warriors got double digit performance by three of their starters as
Jon Ravenhorst (Sarnia) (17),
Dylan Phillips (Hamilton) (16) and
Ben Davis (Mississauga) (11) had solid games for the black and gold. On the boards,
Mike Pereira (Kitchener) finished with 11 rebounds.Â
For Algmoa, Sean Clendinning was a force with 23 points going 9-for-17 from the field with four from beyond the arc. Andre Barber was also a factor with 14 points and six rebounds. Algoma's bench was also a key part in the victory with 30 points.
The Warriors will hope to regroup tonight when they take on the Thunderbirds again at 8pm. Â
