In an always competitive meet the Waterloo women's swim team captured their meet while the men lost their side against the Niagara University Purple Eagles. The final scores showed the women winning 127 - 77 points and the men fell 123 - 81.Â
The women won 7 of 9 individual events. Rookies
Sydney Dysart (Newmarket) (1000 free),
Lou-Salome Chou (Shanghai) (100 back) and
Nicole Nowicki (Toronto) (400 IM) showed the future is bright for Waterloo.
Michelle Cheng (Markham) (100 breast),
Madlynn Palmer (Kingston) (500 free),
Josie Andres (Thorndale) (50 free) and
Linda Wang (Oakville) (200 free) rounded out the individual wins. Michelle and Josie were joined by
Tamara Shaw (Ottawa) and
Olivia Kelly (Oshawa) to win the 400 free relay. The tight racing and lots of wins were fantastic for the group and all 20 women had a good day in the pool.Â
The men won 2 events on the day. Lots of close calls that they were not able to convert. Rookie
Leon Ouyang (Windsor) won the 100 back and veteran
Zao Chen (Ottawa) won a very competitive 200 free race. Lots of work on start and turns skills ahead for the men as they prepare for the rest of the season.Â
The Warriors host Ottawa and Laurier on Friday, November 25th before heading to Sudbury for their most important competiton of the fall on November 26 and 27.Â
