Box Score
Claire Mackenzie (Vancouver) was a force in Waterloo's season opener putting away 17 kills in 31 attempts but it wasn't enough as Waterloo dropped an extremely tight season opener to the Windsor Lancers by a score of 3-1.
After Windsor took the opening set 27-25, the Warriors bounced back to take the second set 25-23, capped off by an
Alyson Colpitts (Fredericton) kill.
The Lancers would however bounce back to capture the third set 25-19 to take a strangle hold on the match.
Waterloo would however not go down without a fight with Colpitts and Mackenzie leading the attack but it wasn't enough as Windsor again won another tight set, 25-23 to claim the match.
Colpitts finished the match with nine kills while fifth year middle
Casey Clunas (Harriston) was also strong in her final season opener with nine successful attacks of her own. Rookie setter
Claire Gagne (Cambridge) was impressive in her Warrior debut with 33 asssits while
Karly Smith (Lockport) was also solid with 13 of her own. On the defensive side
Sarina Trasolini (Vancouver) collected 20 digs.
For Windsor it was a balanced attack with three Lancers reaching double digits in kills. Emily McCloskey, Lexi Pollard, and Melissa Smyth each put away 10 kills to give Windsor their first win of the season.
Waterloo will be back in action on Sunday in London as they face Western at 1pm.
