Ben Davis (Mississauga/Central Wyoming) put down a game winning bucket with just two seconds left as the Warriors escaped with a thrilling 82-81 win over the Western Mustangs on Saturday afternoon at the PAC. Â
What was an exciting day of action at the PAC with so many promotions going on (Think Pink, HeForShe, Staff and Faculty Appreciation Day); Davis was able to put an exclamation mark with a Warrior victory.
With two Mustangs all over the fifth year forward jumped into one of the defenders, kissed it off the glass and the rest is history. Â Davis went on to miss the free throw, which turned out to be the right play giving Western less than two seconds to throw up a prayer that would not be answered.
Davis finished the game with 17 points going 6-for-12 from the field with two from beyond the arc. Â
Jon Ravenhorst (Sarnia/Sarnia Northern) was the next best Warrior scorer with 16 points, thanks to a very successful day from beyond the arc, knocking down four including one in the dying minutes to tie the game at 77's. Â
Mike Pereira (Kitchener/Resurrection Secondary) and
Simon Petrov (Waterloo/Sir John A. Macdonald Secondary)Â were also in double figures with 15 and 12 respectively. Â On the boards, rookie forwardÂ
Nedim Hodzic (Waterloo, Sir John A. Macdonald Secondary) had a nice game with eight rebounds. Â
Leading Western was Eriq Jenkins who led all scorers with 22 points, while also corralling nine rebounds.Â
