Box Score The Warriors got another solid start between the pipes from
Stephanie Sluys (Clinton) and a two goal effort from both
Kaitlyn McDonell (Kincardine) and
Rachel Marriott (Waterloo) to win their fourth straight game with a 4-1 victory over the UOIT Ridgebacks on Saturday night.Â
With the win Waterloo improved to 12-5-1 and now sit alone in second spot in the OUA with 35 points on the season. The loss dropped UOIT to 5-11-1.
"We continue to do the right things at both ends of the ice and we are seeing the results," said head coach
Shaun Reagan. "Our goaltending has been outstanding and we are finding a way to put the puck in the net. It's been a nice little run for our team."
Marriott wasted little time getting the Warriors on the scoreboard, with her 10
th of the season 7:15 into the opening frame.Â
Siobhan Hewitt-Kenda (North Vancouver) picked up the helper on the goal.
Just four minutes later
Kaitlyn McDonell (Kincardine) netted her fourth of the season to put Waterloo up 2-0.
The score would remain that until UOIT cut into the Warrior lead five minutes into the final period as Mikaeli Cavell put one past Sluys.
Waterloo would however regain their two goal lead just under two minutes later with Marriott find her 11
th of the season on a nice setup by
Michelle Tanel (Toronto) and
Lindsey McDonald (Ajax). McDonell potted her second of the game into the empty net with a man down to seal Waterloo's fourth straight victory.
Sluys made 18 saves in the win while at the other end Cassie Charette allowed three goals on 24 shots.
Waterloo will be back in action for one game next weekend as they take on the Laurier Golden Hawks on Saturday at the Memorial Rec Complex. Puck drop is set for 7:30pm.Â
