Box Score The Warrior women's volleyball team got a solid effort by outside hitters
Alyson Colpitts (Fredericton) and
Claire Mackenzie (North Vancouver) but it wasn't enough as the Queen's Gaels topped Waterloo 3-1 in Kingston on Saturday night. Colpitts and Mackenzie combined for 26 kills in the contest.
Queen's jumped out to a 2-0 lead before Waterloo took back the momentum in the third set winning it 25-20 but the Gaels took over the net play in the fourth, taking it 25-15. Overall Queen's put up 16 blocks while Waterloo only had eight in the match. The Gaels also put away 46 kills compared to Waterloo's 37.
Also providing the attack for Waterloo was
Emily Ibbotson (Cambridge) who put away six kills while adding two blocks.
Emily Needles (Thorndale) had 31 assists in the match while
Kristen Bartmann (Uxbridge) continued where she left off in Waterloo's win over RMC with a game high 21 digs.
For Queen's it was a triple threat of Shannon Neville, Shannon Hopkins and Caroline Livingston who combined for 35 kills in the win. Middle blocker Makayla Keith led the way with five blocks.
The Warriors will head into the holiday break with a 4-6 record and find themselves in a tie for fifth in the OUA west with Lakehead, both at eight points. Waterloo will return to action in the New Year on January 15 at Windsor.
