Errors prove to be costly in loss to Mustangs

Box Score The women's volleyball team dropped their second straight home game to conclude a six game home stand as the Western Mustangs soared over Waterloo 3-1 on Saturday afternoon.

It was an identical game to Friday night where the Warriors appeared to be neck and neck with their opponent and a five setter looming but after a hard fought third set loss, Waterloo's confidence would spiral away and Western cruised to the finish line with a 25-11 fourth set win.

The errors proved to be costly for the black and gold as they mounted throughout the match adding up to 33 mishaps while Western had just 19.  The Mustangs also dominated the net play with 25 blocks while Waterloo could only muster six.

Alyson Colpitts (Fredericton) led all Warrior attackers with 16 kills while adding two blocks.  Emily Ibbotson (Cambridge) was efficient in the middle with eight kills on just 14 attempts.  Defensively Kristen Bartmann (Uxbridge) did all she could to keep rallies going with a game high 21 digs.

For Western Danielle Grasman was a killer at the net with eight blocks.  Aja Gyimah was the top point getter with 15 for the 'Stangs while setter Katherine Tsiofas had 32 assists in the win.

Waterloo will hit the road next weekend for their final two games of 2015 against RMC and Queen's.
