Box Score The Waterloo women's volleyball team dropped to 2-3 on the season in a 5-set loss to the Lakehead Thunderwolves on Friday night at the PAC.  The win improved the T-Wolves record to 3-2 on the season.

You weren't quite sure which way this game was going to go with so many twists and turns along the way.  Lakehead opened the game dominating the Warriors in all aspects as they would cruise to take the first set 25-15. 

The momentum would shift to the home side in the second set as the Warriors took over the net game with huge blocks and timely kills up the middle, taking it 25-9 to even the match at one set apiece.

The match would finally settle in the third and the two combatants would go back and forth before rookie middle Kelsey Caza (Waterloo) put up a huge block with another first year Warrior, Alyson Colpitts (Fredericton) to hand Waterloo the set 25-23.

Lakehead would even the match taking the fourth set 25-16 sending this seesaw battle to a fifth.

The T-Wolves opened up a 10-6 lead in the fifth before a couple of hitting errors by the visitors and solid serving by Kristen Bartmann (Uxbridge) would give Waterloo four straight points to even the set at 10-all.  Both teams would exchange two points each before Lakehead outside hitter Kailan Robinson would put away two of the next three points to hand her team the set 15-13 and match 3-2.

Claire Mackenzie (North Vancouver) led the Warriors in attacks with 15 kills in a losing effort.  She also added eight digs.  Up the middle Emily Ibbotson (Cambridge) had six blocks while adding five kills.  Emily Needles (Thorndale) finished the game with 35 assists.

For Lakehead it was Olivia Bowman doing all the damage with 20 kills, six blocks and three service aces.  Robinson and Jennifer Casey added seven kills each to round out the T-Wolves attack.
Waterloo and Lakehead will go to battle again tomorrow night at the PAC at 7pm.  The game can be seen live on OUA.tv.
