Box Score The Waterloo men's basketball team dropped to 0-3 on the early season with a 91-65 loss to the Toronto Varsity Blues on Wednesday night at the Goldring Centre.
The Warriors could not overcome the up-tempo style of the Blues and were unable to break through their full court press to set up their offence.
As a team the Warriors shot 37.9% from the field while the Blues were operating at 45.7%. On the boards is where the Blues did their damage with 56 rebounds while Waterloo could only corral 33. The Blues also generated 19 points off turnovers.
Jon Ravenhorst (Sarnia) led the Warriors with 19 points, while
Kristian Vande Kemp (Rockwood) had 14.
Ben Davis (Mississauga) added a double-double of 11 points and 10 rebounds in the loss.
Blues forward Devin Johnson notched a double-double of 26 points and 10 rebounds on the night. Johnson went 10-for-19 from the floor and added three steals to his game-high 26 points, 16 of which came in the first half.
Daniel Johansson of Stockholm added 16 points and six boards, while rookie guard Devon Williams had 11 points and five assists on the night for the home side.
It won't get any easier for the Warriors as they face the always competitive Ryerson Rams on Saturday in Toronto. Tipoff is set for 3pm.
