Box Score The Warriors fell behind 35-0 after two quarter's and could not recover as they fell to the McMaster Marauders 55-7 in Hamilton on Thursday evening.
The Warriors could not stop McMaster quarterback Asher Hastings who broke the OUA single season record of 25 passing TD's. He did so with his four passing touchdown's in the first quarter.
Dan Petermann was the recipient of two of those touchdown passes while Josh Vandeweerd and Matthew DeCicco corralled the other two for the Marauders.
For the Warriors, rookie quarterback
Jonathan Biggs (Brampton) made his debut for the black and gold and went 7-for-16 with 78 passing yards. Waterloo's lone touchdown came on another trick play as Biggs tossed it back to
Blair McKay (Waterford) who went deep, hooking up with
Richmond Nketiah (Brampton) for the major. The touchdown pass was the second of the season for McKay who launched one to
Lam Diing (Kitchener) earlier in the season at Warrior Field against York.
The Warriors defence was busy in the game and
Lucas Merlin (Burlington) led the way once again with seven tackles. Chrisitan Mahler had five while Paula Kaija collected 4.5 tackles.
Jordan Hoover (Sault Ste. Marie) collected another interception in the game, his fourth of the season which now leads the OUA and is second best in the nation, one behind Robert Woodson of the Calgary Dinos.
The loss drops Waterloo to 0-6 on the season while McMaster moved into a tie for second with Guelph each at 10 points. Western remains on top at 6-0 on the season.
Waterloo will take the weekend to recuperate before going back to work in preparation of their final home game next Saturday, October 17 against the Toronto Varsity Blues.
