Box Score The Waterloo Warriors' newly-formed top line accounted for three of the team's four goals on Friday night against RMC, but the one they didn't score is the one that had everyone talking.
Mike Moffat (Waterloo) scored a goal-of-the-year candidate in the second period, and Colin Behenna (Waterloo) added a gorgeous goal of his own to go along with two assists, as the Warriors topped the RMC Paladins 4-2 on Friday night at the Columbia Icefield Arena in Waterloo.
Behenna's linemates Tommy Tsicos (Barrie) and Andrew Smith (Kitchener) each added a goal and an assist for the Warriors, who moved to a perfect 3-0-0 at home and 3-2-0 overall on the season. Chris Hurry (Summerland) made 31 saves for the victory.
Deric Boudreau scored both Paladins goals, as RMC fell to 1-4-1 on the year. Matt Murphy turned aside 34 shots for RMC, making a number of highlight-reel stops in a losing cause.
But the highlight that drew the most attention on the night was Moffat's marker. The defenceman jumped into the rush in the neutral zone, stickhandled through four Paladins, and went top shelf over Murphy's glove to tie the game at two.
The Warriors will now look to win consecutive games for the first time this season, as they host the Carleton Ravens on Saturday night. Puck drop is slated for 7pm at the Columbia Icefield Arena in Waterloo.
