Warriors upset No. 5 Lancers on senior's night

Box Score The Warriors may not be advancing to the post-season but the black and gold showed they aren't far off from competing amongst the elite in the OUA west.  They proved just that with an upset 78-75 win over the No. 5 Windsor Lancers as part of senior's night on Wednesday evening in the PAC.

The Warriors got off to a sluggish start finding themselves down 25-14 after the opening quarter but crawled their way back into the game.  A new Warrior team showed up in the second half with Jaspreet Gill (Oliver/) leading the charge knocking down several shots from downtown.  Waterloo would outscore Windsor 23-16 in the third quarter and hold on for the slim three point victory.

Gill led his team with 22 points going an impressive 6-for-11 with five3-pointer's.  Rookie point guard Myles Charvis (Mississagua/) contributed 18 points and five rebounds in the victory.

Three of the five senior's honoured were also offensive factors with Wayne Bridge (North York/Eastern Commerce), Matt Glibota (Sault Ste Marie/) and Mike Helsby (Waterloo/) combining for 32 points and 17 rebounds.  Peter Holder (Markham/) and Mark Peterson (Kitchener/Forest Heights C.I.) were the final two senior's recognized for their dedication and commitment to the black and gold over their careers.

For Windsor, Lien Phillip led all scorers with 23 points going 10-for-14 from the field while adding 10 defensive rebounds.  Enrico Diloreto was the only other Lancer in double figured with his 16 points.

Waterloo will close out their regular season on Saturday with another stiff test against the No. 6 McMaster Marauders who sit atop the OUA west with a 17-4 record.  

Greg Francis couldn't thank his seniors enough stating "They've been a pleasure to coach and have worked tirelessly to make this team better.  I wish them much success in all of their future endeavors."
