Box Score The Waterloo women's hockey team dropped to 3-4-1 on the season following a 5-1 loss to the Queen's Gaels on Saturday afternoon. The game kicked off Waterloo's 6
th annual think pink campaign but the Warriors were unable to get a victory on home ice.
Despite the score line the Warriors stuck with the first place Gaels who are yet to suffer a regulation loss this season. Shots were 32-31 in favour of the Gaels with Mel Dodd-Moher making 30 stops for the visiting side while
Rebecca Bouwhuis (Orillia/) suffered the loss allowing three goals.
Allie Mitchell (Niagara Falls/) gave up the other two goals on 14 shots in relief action.
Clare McKellar scored for Queen's in the second minute of action and then potted her second only five minutes later.
Queen's was relentless in the second period tallying another two goals, one by Griffin on a power play and another by
Megan Farrell off an assist from
Taryn Pilon.
The Gaels led 4-0 heading into the third period where Waterloo's
Kaitlyn McDonell (Kincardine/) gave her team their first goal of the game to break up a Gaels shutout. Less than a minute later, Griffin assisted Jacklin with her first goal of the game, and the Gaels fifth.
Queen's continued to sit atop the OUA standings with 15 points while Waterloo is tied for eighth with seven.
The Warriors will now embark on a five game road trip starting with a stop up north to face the Nipissing Lakers on Saturday and Laurentian Voyageurs on Sunday.
