Box Score The Waterloo men's basketball team did all they could to provide the large think pink crowd with a win on Saturday night but fell just short to the Queen's Gaels. Queen's outscored Waterloo 17-11 in the final quarter and that was the difference as the visitors bested the black and gold 61-57 for their fourth win of the season. The Warriors remain winless at 0-5 on the young season.
Queen's shot 36.1% from the field compared to Waterloo's 34.9 but the difference would be Queen's three point shooting as they hit seven from beyond the arc while Waterloo was a lowly 3-for-24 from three point territory. Waterloo also struggled on the boards for a second straight net with Queen's out rebounding the home side 50 to 23.
Greg Faulkner led all scorers with 18 points going 7-for-18 from the field knocking down three 3-pointers. Sukhpreet Singh chipped in with 14 points while Nikola Misljencevic had 12 points and 10 rebounds.
For the Warriors
Matt Glibota (Sault Ste Marie/) had his best game as a Warrior posting 17 points and eight rebounds.
Jaspreet Gill (Oliver/) and
Mike Helsby (Waterloo/) also chipped in on the offence with 10 points each.
The highlight of the contest came at halftime when 22 brave Warriors shaved or cut their head for the Think Pink campaign to help raise money and donate their hair for various causes. Thank you to all who helped make this possible.
Waterloo will be in tough next weekend with a pair of games in Ottawa. They will take on the Gee-Gees on Friday night before taking on the nation's best team Carleton Ravens on Saturday.
