Skip of the men's curling team
Jake Walker (Minden/) was honoured on Tuesday by Ontario University Athletics (OUA) as the male athlete of the week.
Walker captured a silver medal at the 2012 CIS/CCA Championship this past weekend in Welland and was named a CIS First Team All-Canadian for his efforts. The 2010 Canadian Junior Champion led all eight skips at the championship with a 76 shooting percentage and was a big factor in Waterloo's 5-2 round robin play record and 8-5 win over Brock in the semifinal game.
Walker is acknowledged as one of the top university skips in Canada and the driving force behind the men's curling program at Waterloo, who went 22-6 this season.
