Clara Tse (Hong Kong/) led the Warriors to a 3-1 (25-17, 25-27, 25-17, 25-21) over the RMC Paladins on Friday night at the PAC. Tse led all players with 19 kills to snap Waterloo's three game losing streak. Tse also contributed defensively with 12 digs in the match.
With the win the Warriors improved to 2-3 on the young season while RMC dropped to 1-3.
After comfortably taking the first set , the Warriors found themselves down 19-11 in the second after a gritty performance by the Paladins. Following a technical timeout Waterloo battled their way back into the set and looked poised to take 2-0 lead but RMC would sneak out the set 27-25.
Waterloo went to work in the next two sets winning them 25-17, 25-21 to take the match.
Rookie outside,
Shannon Lodoen (Waterloo/) added to the attack led by Tse with 12 kills of her own and an impressive 14 digs. Lodoen also served up an astounding six aces in the match. Setter Mikaela Kile was stellar for the Warriors in the win with 29 assists and 19 digs.
Gillian Henderson (Ottawa/) was also a factor defensively with a total of 15 digs.
For the Paladins, Danielle Vortisch (Whitby) was solid tallying 16 kills, 14 digs and one service ace.
The Warriors look to keep their momentum going tomorrow night as they battle the defending OUA champions, Queen's Gaels at 8pm (PAC).
