Box Score Game Summary

The Warriors dropped their third straight game as they fell to the Western Mustangs 3-1 on Friday night in London.  Set scores were 20-25, 25-21, 26-24, 25-17.

The Warriors would get off to a strong start in the match earning the first set 25-20 after being down most of the opening set.

The second set saw the Mustangs again take the early lead but Waterloo started to climb back making the set once again a point for point affair.  The Warriors would jump ahead 12-8 before the Mustangs called a time-out and that would turn the match around for the purple as they walked away with the set 25-21.

Heading onto the court with confidence, Western immediately jumped out to a 4-0 lead to start the third set. After coming within a few points throughout the set, Waterloo tied things up at 15 points a-piece. Leading by only one point at the technical time out, the Warriors turned the set into another point for point event with competitive rallies. Waterloo would find themselves up by two late in the set but the resilient Mustangs would notch the next three points to take the set 26-24.

With two straight sets under their belt, Western started things off with a 3-2 lead and refused to allow the fourth set to become a close affair, eventually taking the set 25-17 and handing the Warriors the 3-1 loss.

Second year outside hitter Clara Tse (Hong Kong/) was again a huge factor for the Warriors with 16 kills in the match.  The environmental masters student also dug the ball 14 times while adding three blocks and one service ace.

Veteran Kristen Sheffield (North Bay/) returned from injury and had a strong game with eight kills and three blocks.  Setter Mikaela Klie (/) picked up 32 assists in the match.

The Warriors look to reverse their fortune next weekend with a pair of matches against RMC on Friday and the defending OUA champions, Queen's on Saturday.  Both games are set for 8pm at the PAC.
