Game Summary

The Waterloo Warriors scored two goals, 44 seconds apart to pick up their fourth straight win with a 3-1 win over the Guelph Gryphons on Saturday night at the Columbia Icefield Arena.

The meeting was the third in three weeks between the two teams with Waterloo sweeping the season series 3-0.  The Warriors improved to 10-4-1 with the win and sit in third in the OUA west while the Gryphons are 3-8-4, good for seventh spot.

Neither team was able to find the net until the final minute of the second period when the Gryphons were able to get one past starting goalie Keaton Hartigan (Kitchener/) of the Warriors.  James Merrett (Vernon, Ont.) tallied his second of the season with Nathan Martine (Port Colborne, Ont.) picking up the helper.

Down 1-0 heading into the third period, Waterloo would find the equalizer five minutes in with Ryan Molle (Calgary/) notching his first goal of the season and third as a Warrior.  Chris Ray (Kelowna/) and Josh Woolley (Cambridge/) were credited with the assists.

The Warriors found the go ahead goal at the 16:43 mark as Josh Schappert (Winnipeg/) fired home his seventh goal of the season.  Tyler Moir (Calgary/) and Andy Smith (Rosetown/) added the helpers.

Only 44 seconds later the Warriors added an insurance marker as Jarrett Schnurr (Waterloo/) scored his sixth goal of the season to secure the 3-1 Waterloo win.

Hartigan was the busier of the two goalies stopping 33 of 34 shots faced while Gryphons netminder Cody St. Jacques (Iroquois Falls, Ont.) allowed three goals on 25 shots in the loss.

Waterloo return to action next Thursday as they take on the second place Western Mustangs in London before returning home for their final game of 2011 as they welcome the Windsor Lancers to the CIF arena.
