The Waterloo women's volleyball team lost their fourth straight game as the Brock Badgers clipped the Warriors 3-1 on Sunday afternoon at the Bob Davis Gymnasium in St. Catharines. Set scores were 25-21, 24-26, 25-17 and 25-23.
Brock went up 2-1 after three games. In Game four, the Badgers trailed 23-18, before answering with seven straight points for the come from behind victory.
Brock had a balanced attack led by the trio of sophomore Lucy McLay (Stratford, Ont.) and seniors Rachel Roorda (St. George, Ont.) and Jennifer McKenzie (Surrey, NC). McLay recorded 12 kills and 12 digs for her third double-double of the season. Roorda contributed with 11 kills, three aces and three block solos while McKenzie chipped in with 11 kills and two block solos.
Senior setter Ally Fast (St. Catharines, Ont.) added 40 assists and 11 digs for her fifth double-double. Sophomore libero Tess Palmateer (Aurora, Ont.) collected a season high 23 digs in the victory.
Leading Waterloo was
Laura Klein (Kitchener/) who registered a game-high 14 kills. She also added 11 digs for the double-double. Rookie outsider hitter Natalie Kanda chipped in with 12 kills in the loss while
Kayla Ng (London/) had 22 assists in the four set match.
For the match, Brock hit .180 as a team registering 44 kills with 20 errors on 133 attempts. The Warriors hit .148, adding 43 kills on 135 attempts with 23 errors.
Waterloo will look to put a hault to their four game skid when they travel to Windsor to face the Lancers on Saturday, November 26 for their final game of 2011.
