The Warriors won their third straight game to start the season with a come from behind victory over the Ryerson Rams on Saturday night at the PAC gym. Down two sets to none, Waterloo won the last three sets to top Ryerson 3-2 (19-25, 26-28, 25-23, 25-18, 17-15).
Waterloo is now 3-0 on the season while the Rams are still in search of their first win of the season at 0-2.
Laura Klein (Kitchener/) was once again an offensive force for the Warriors for the second straight match. Klein led all players with an incredible 27 kills in the five sets players. Klein was also solid on the defensive side of the ball with 18 digs and two blocks. Adding to Waterloo's attack was
Kristen Sheffield (North Bay/) and
Natasha Spaling (Drayton/) with 11 and 10 kills respectively.
Fourth year libero
Katie Spack (Ottawa/) chipped in with 17 digs while setters
Mikaela Klie (/) and
Kayla Ng (London/) shared the setting duties with a combined 60 assists to lead the Warriors to victory.
Outside hitters Emily Nicholishen (Whitby, Ont.) and Carli Yim (Markham, Ont.) led the Rams with 13 kills each while setter Haley Wolfenden (Ottawa, Ont.) had 36 assists.
The Warriors take their perfect record into Toronto next weekend to face two other undefeated teams in the York Lions (2-0) on Friday and Toronto Varsity Blues (3-0) on Saturday.
