Saturday, Oct. 8 vs. Guelph
Guelph 3, Waterloo 1
On Saturday the Warriors hosted Guelph in a must win game to close out the regular season failing to make the playoffs. Waterloo got a tremendous pitching effort from
Adam Lentz (Calgary/) and out hit Guelph 8-6 but dropped a 3-1 decision. Lentz lasted eight and one third innings, allowing only six hits and three runs (one earned) but four errors and the lack of timely hitting did in the Warriors.
Lentz also struck out eight on the day.
Chris Georges (Pickering/) led the way with two hits, while
Ben Tinklin (Kitchener/),
Nolan Pettipiece (Burlington/),
David Allen (Burlington/),
Ben Norris (Waterloo/),
Brandon Beattie (St. Catharines/) and
Jimmy McCullough (Toronto/) all had one hit.
All of the Warriors hits came with two outs, and they couldn't get enough timely hits to overcome the deficit. The Warriors end the season with a 12-9 record, which ties them for third in the standings with Toronto and Laurier, but due to the tie breaker they end in fifth place and miss the playoffs.
