The Warriors lost their third straight game falling by a score of 4-3 to the UOIT Ridgebacks on Saturday evening in Oshawa.  The Ridgebacks scored the only goal of the third period to break a 3-3 tie which stood up as the winner.

Third year forward Jarrett Schnurr (Waterloo, Ont.) opened the scoring for Waterloo with his ninth of the season 12 minutes into the first period.  Leading goal scorer on the Ridgebacks, Josh Vatri (Barrie, Ont.) tied the game at one on the penalty kill before Nathan Spaling (Drayton, Ont.) scored a late first period goal to give the Ridgebacks a 2-1 lead heading into the second period.

Just one minute into the second frame defenceman Ryan Molle (Calgary, Alta.) sniped his second of the season on the power play to tie the game at two.  Mike Veysey (Bedford, N.S.) would give Waterloo their second lead of the game, once again on the power play as he made no mistake from the Steve Whitely (Petrolia, Ont.) pass.

UOIT responded late in the second with Spaling scoring his second goal of the game, seventh of the season on the power play to send the game tied 3-3 into the third period.

Vatri would score his second goal at 8:37 of the third period which would be the eventual game winner to give UOIT a much needed victory and to ensure the black and gold did not sweep the season series.

Warrior goalie Keaton Hartigan (Kitchener, Ont.) stopped 33 of 37 shots for the loss while winning goalie Jason Guy (Whitby, Ont.) made 22 saves for the win.

With the win the Ridgebacks (10-11-4) sit in the eighth and final playoff spot with 24 points while the Warriors dropped to 14-10-1 clinging to the fourth playoff spot with 29 points only one point ahead of the Brock Badgers.

The Warriors have a light week playing one game on the road as they visit the Guelph Gryphons on Thursday, February 3 before wrapping up their season at home with a pair of games against the Lakehead Thunderwolves.
