Waterloo pushed to the limits in Thunder Bay

The Warriors had to make full use of their time in Thunder Bay narrowly defeating the Lakehead Thunderwolves 3 sets to 2 on Friday night.  The Warriors edged the T'wolves 15-13 in the final set to win their fourth game of the season.

Leading the charge for the Warriors was Sarah Glassford (Acton, Ont.) who finished the game with 12 kills, two service aces, two blocks and five digs.  Laura Klein (Kitchener, Ont.) added to the attack with 10 kills and 12 digs, while Meaghan Loveday (Kitchener, Ont.) had nine kills.  Setter Kayla Ng (London, Ont.) had 18 assists on the evening.

Lakehead was led by Vanessa Chorkawy with 24 points (17 kills, 4 stuff blocks, 3 aces), followed by a huge performance from hometown senior Karla Brayshaw with 16 points (12 kills, 3 stuff blocks and 1 ace). Jorie Daymond had 9 kills and 2 aces, while libero Nicole Vercaigne had 19 digs.

Both teams combined for 138 digs in the match.

Waterloo will be looking to continue their momentum against their cross-town rivals, Laurier Golden Hawks on Wednesday, January 26.
