Waterloo 3, RMC 1 (26-24, 25-19, 20-25, 25-19)
The young Warrior women's volleyball team snapped a four game losing streak on Sunday afternoon in Kingston as they defeated the RMC Paladins 3-1.
The Warriors opened the first set narrowly edging the Paladins 26-24 and followed it up with a much more convincing win in the second set by a score of 25-19. After the Paladins responded with a 25-20 set win in the third, Waterloo finished off RMC with a 25-19 fourth set score to take the two points.
Second year outside hitter Joanna Meltzer (Georgetown/) led the charge with 17 kills, 2 service aces and a staggering 26 digs. Rookie hitter, Danielle Kamps (Vineland Station/) showed what she can bring to the Warriors with 12 kills and 2 blocks.
For the Paladins, Ariel Brown-Berkeley (Cambridge, Ont.) had 11 kills, 2 service aces and 12 digs. Danielle Vortisch (Whitby, Ont.) finished with 8 kills and 30 digs.
Next up for the Warriors is their farthest road trip of the year as they fly up to Thunder Bay to take on the Lakehead Thunderwolves (2-11) on Friday, January 21.
