Saturday, Sept. 18 vs. Guelph
Game 1 – Guelph 6, Waterloo 5
In Saturday's first game The Warriors record dropped to 1-4 with a loss to the Gryphons. Guelph jumped out to an early lead with three runs in the fourth and three more in the sixth. The Warrior bats then came alive scoring three runs of their own in the seventh to draw within three. They would add two more runs in the ninth but the rally would come up short. Adam Lentz (Calgary, Ont.) took the loss going five and one third innings, giving up six runs, all earned, on 10 hits and he struck out seven. Joel Smith (Chatham, Ont.) finished the game and pitched well, giving the Warriors a chance to rally. Joel threw three and two third innings of scoreless ball, allowing four hits and striking out two. Offensively the Warriors were led by Jason Diniz-Wood (Brampton, Ont.), who had three hits and three RBI, including a two run home run in the ninth. Aaron Butler (Niagara Falls, Ont.) and David Allen (Burlington, Ont.) also chipped in with three hits while Chris Ryan (Waterloo, Ont.) had two hits.
Game 2 – Waterloo 9, Guelph 6
Waterloo improved to 2-4 taking the back end of the double header defeating Guelph 9-6. Waterloo jumped out to an early lead thanks to a six run fourth inning and cruised to victory. Anthony Douris (Newmarket, Ont.) picked up the win, throwing a complete game, allowing six runs (3 earned) on nine hits and he struck out four. David Allen (Burlington, Ont.) led the way for the offense with three hits and three RBI, including a three run home run, and he scored two runs. Thomas Biskup (Markahm, Ont,) also had three hits and scored three runs. Ben Norris (Waterloo, Ont.) and Nolan Pettipiece (Burlington, Ont.) each chipped in with a hit and an RBI.
Sunday, Sept. 19 vs. McMaster
Game 1 – Waterloo 2, McMaster 1
Game one in Hamilton was a classic pitcher's duel, with Waterloo coming out on top 2-1 to improve their record to 3-4. Waterloo took the lead early with runs in the third and fifth innings and were able to hang on for the win behind rookie starter Brandon Beattie (St. Catharines, Ont.). Brandon picked up his second win in as many starts, going seven and two thirds allowing just one unearned run. Dexter Chu (Mississauga, Ont.) came on in the ninth to pitch a clean inning and pick up the save. David Allen (Burlington/) continued to swing a hot bat chipping in with two hits, while Thomas Biskup (Markham/) and Jason Diniz-Wood (Brampton/) also had a hit.
Game 2 – Waterloo 5, McMaster 2
Waterloo improved their record to 4-4 with a sweep of the double header collecting a 5-2 win in game two. Waterloo jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first with three straight hits by Craig Van Ooteghem (Kitchener, Ont.), Chris Ryan (Waterloo/), and Mike Glinka (Kitchener, Ont.) to load the bases. Jason Diniz-Wood (Brampton/) then hit a sacrifice fly to score one and Thomas Biskup (Markham/) followed with a two run double. Diniz-Wood ended the day with two hits, Glinka chipped in with two hits and Biskup finished the day with two hits and three RBI's. Starter Stefan Sawicky (Ajax, Ont.) got the win, allowing two runs on three hits and he struck out four in three and two third innings of work. Kyle Loeppky (Regina, SK) came on to get the last four outs and pick up his first save of the season.
