The Warriors won their first game of the season upsetting the undefeated no. 7 Windsor Lancers in a Sunday afternoon affair on the road.  The Warriors won the game by a score of 2-1.

The Lancers who had just come off a thrilling victory over the no. 2 Laurier Golden Hawks could not solve rookie netminder Martina Michaud (Etobicoke, Ont.) who stood on her head stopping 53 of 54 shots to earn her first victory as a Warrior and a big two points for Waterloo.

Waterloo opened the scoring with Mandy Harrop (Simcoe, Ont.) putting home her second goal of the weekend (and season) past Lancers goal keeper Kasey Martin only 4 minutes into the game.  Emma McMillan (Hastings, Ont.) and Sarah McCorquodale (Embro, Ont.) would add assists on the Harrop Goal.

The Warriors would extend their lead as rookie forward Nicole Hébert (Toronto, Ont.) snipped her third of the season.  Jessica Tracey (Woodslee, Ont.) picked up the assist on the goal.

Michaud would take over the game making save after save to lift Waterloo to their first win of the season and give the Warriors a crucial three point weekend (following an overtime loss to Western the night before).

Windsor would eventually solve Michaud in the second period off the stick of assistant captain Candace Rapchak (Stoney Point, Ont.) but it would not be enough with the wall Martina Michaud (Etobicoke/) between the pipes for the Warriors on Sunday afternoon.

Waterloo look to continue their momentum with a tough match up against the Laurier Golden Hawks on Saturday afternoon at the CIF arena in Waterloo.  Puck drop is set for 2:00 pm.
