The Warriors lost a close battle with the Brock Badgers on Saturday afternoon at the Columbia Icefield Arena in Waterloo.  The Badgers opened the scoring just 27 seconds into the game and did not look back as Waterloo fell to 0-5 on the season while the Brock Badgers moved to 3-1.

Opening the scoring for the Badgers was Kelly Walker, her second of the season as she slid one past Warrior netminder Elizabeth Baverstock (Cambridge, Ont.).  Karolyn Mcllmoyle added to Brock's lead late in the second with assists going to Walker and Leigh Vanderveen.

Just one minute into the second, with the Warriors on the powerplay the Badgers extended their lead to three as Courtney Sutherland scored a beauty shorthanded goal.  Baverstock and the Warriors would settle down and fight their way back into the game as rookie Ona Mezenberg (Owen Sound, Ont.) scored the first goal for Waterloo in two games.  The goal gave the Warriors new life but they were unable to capitalize on several late period chances.  Brianne Veale added a late goal in the second to give Brock a 4-1 lead heading into the third period.  Baverstock had a strong period stopping 14 of the 16 shots she faced.

In a surprising move, rookie goalie Emma Meanor (Morell, Ont.) saw her first CIS action as she replaced Baverstock to start the third.  The move inspired the Warriors to drive more pucks towards Badgers goalie Beth Clause but a Jessica Tracey (Woodslee, Ont.) goal would not be enough as the Warriors fell 4-2 to Brock.

The standout goalie of Brock, Beth Clause stopped 28 of 30 shots she faced to pick up her third win of the season.

The Warriors lost their sixth straight game of the season to the No. 6 nationally ranked Guelph Gryphons.

Waterloo came out firing in the early half of the first period as Mandy Harrop (Simcoe, Ont.) and Renee Lemmond (Hamilton, Ont.) had early chances for the Warriors but rookie goalie Brooke Siddall made big saves to keep her Gryphons in the game.

Defenceman Kim Wong opened the scoring for Guelph on the powerplay, notching her first of the season.  The Warriors penalty killed continued to struggle as Guelph would add to their lead scoring their second powerplay goal of the game as Jessica Zerafa scored her first of the year.

With the score 2-0 heading into the second period, Waterloo would cut into the lead with a powerplay goal of their own as  Emma McMillan (Hastings, Ont.) netted her first of the season with assist going to Lemmon and Harrop.

Guelph would take over the game from then on scoring two late second period goals off the stick of Tori Woods and Tamara Bell to send the Gryphons into the locker room up by three with one period remaining.

Much of the same would occur in the third as the Warriors continued to struggle offensively with the Gryphons peppering Waterloo's goalie Emma Meanor (Morell, Ont.) who made 43 saves on the afternoon.  Zerefa would add her second of the game to round out the scoring for the Gryphons taking the game 5-1 over the winless Warriors.

Waterloo (0-6-0) will have to dig deep in their next contest as they travel to London to face the Western Mustangs (2-3-0) on Saturday, October 30 followed by a contest with the undefeated Windsor Lancers (5-0-0) on Sunday.
